Love the blog. Great idea, and I’ve learned a few things about geek casual.
Two points to note: first, on your outfit, the half windsor knot, which causes the tie to skew to your right is a definite positive.
Second, on Hamish, the whole outfit works well until you get to the full length shot at the end, and there’s a 5cm gap between the top of his belt and the bottom of the tie. Too short is as bad as the too-long tie you faulted Ballmer for in an earlier post…
