I use the reporter style moleskine, and find it to be extremely practical. I had no idea it was such a fashion statement, although I'm sure the image is ruined by my choice of writing instrument, a fat PhD pen.

Ooh yes, Rotring brings back memories (producing one-sheet "cheat sheets" for physics exams :))
Probably the ultimate geek writing tool indeed, although a huge mess when cleaning, and all too fragile to go into pockets I think.

Writers [on Writing]

Obviously, Mary does not write using a computer, but it makes you wonder if there is an analogue for those that do? And I'm sure just changing your mouse pointer style doesn't do the trick. Stock up on a range of keyboards and mice? Or even different...

I say go with pencil, much less smudgy!

And while at it, a mechanical one with thin lead as you'll never have to sharpen... like the above pictured mini Mont Blanc, the right size for small notebooks. Fits nicely under the elastic band on the top - notebook + pen in a neat package so you never have to rummage around in pockets for that blasted pen...

If you insist on a rollerball in the same miniature size, try Caran d"Ache, they've got some neat silvery stuff that fits jeans or a suit without irony.

Heh, irony? Nahh, important daily travel issues this... :D

Thomas: thanks for the correction. I'll have to seek out the thin, lineless pages.

Cote, excellent stuff- other than the Pierre Cardin blazer, which is nowadays is equivalent to having I love Bill Gates and the RIAA rocks stickers on your Dell laptop at linuxworld. This is either deeply ironic, or clueless.
